Alexander Technique Introduction
With Barbara Robertson
A one day introduction to a fundamental physical technique for actors.
Great acting starts with physical life. It is your body which gives your work authenticity. The Alexander Technique empowers you and grounds your work by identifying and removing excessive and unwanted postural and movement habits which limit your performance.
“Without The Alexander Technique it is very difficult to become a first rate Actor.” Larry Moss
Ease and freedom open your instrument (body) allowing optimal breath and resonance in your voice. It also enables easy access to your characters-their spontaneity, presence and emotions. As a performer, your connections to scene partners, lines and the audience are readily available.
This is a “hands-on” practical workshop which gives you a tool kit to take into your professional life.
In the morning you will work on material of your choice while you integrate the learned skills, while in the afternoon you will use these skills in order to take your craft to the next level. You will take the following appreciations away from the course:
- That your body is your instrument & the key to your craft
- Basic anatomy & physiology give ease & freedom to allow:
~ optimal breathing
~ resonance in the voice
