Are you auditioning for Drama School? For a theatre company general? Or maybe your want your theatre monologues perfected for that next audition? This Masterclass then is your perfect opportunity to work with one of the leaders in theatre education, and a seminal figure in the drama school audition process. Choose either one or both weekend sessions. Week one is Shakespeare, week two Contemporary.
Kevin Jackson, ex-head of NIDA Acting, has auditioned over 25, 000 students for NIDA over the course of 20 years. Dramas Schools typically audition around 1,200 actors every year for 21 places, and there’s a reason those 21 are successful. Over the series of one or two weekends, Kevin will give you the skills and insight into the drama audition process, through work on both a Shakespeare monologue and a Contemporary monologue.
This course will give you the tools to give it your best shot. Kevin’s “no-nonsense” approach will give you honest and helpful feedback for your monologues so you can go into the audition feeling confident, calm and prepared. Kevin will guide you through how to approach the music of the script, how to understand and apply the grammar and punctuation and how to get them up and moving on the floor. Module 1 – Shakespeare Monologues: Saturday 22nd October
For the Shakespearian module you will be required to prepare two Shakespearian monologues (from the drama school lists if you will be auditioning for them) which you will work on thoroughly over the weekend. Please know your texts inside out before the start of the course and also bring a copy of each speeches.
Previous Shakespeare training or experience is not a prerequisite to apply.
Module 2 – Contemporary Monologues: Saturday 29th October
For the Module 2 you will be required to prepare two Contemporary monologues (from the drama school lists if you will be auditioning for them) which you will work on thoroughly over the weekend. Please know your texts inside out before the start of the course and also bring a copy of each speeches.
No previous experience necessary.
